More On 60's Themes...

I have a small confession to make. The image you see above is where I originally planned to take the last tutorial. But somehow, at least for me, it seemed too..."ordinary" if not "child-like", so I opted to steer toward a metal foil, green and red sort of thing.

Interestingly, on the home-front, a different set of opinions were circulating about which picture was most likable. I'll be the first to admit I missed the forest for the trees on this one. The image you see above was voted the "favorite" over my latter creation. And to think, I was busily working on a color coalition of the same images. (See below):

That will teach me to ever thumbtack my opinion based on what I think "others" will find more appealing. Sometimes, my dear readers, the most simple and (dare I say) child-like images turn out to be winners, too. At least on the home-front.

Just so the first image offered at the top here, doesn't go without any sort of explanation, I'll elaborate a little on how I created it.

  1. I used the tie-dye image as a background.

  2. Used shagadelic font, text on a path, to curve around the peace sign, and then...

  3. Converted the text to GIMP animated brushes (from an earlier tutorial)

  4. Downloaded a bunch of peace and love brushes off DeviantArt, including daisy brushes.

  5. Added a drop shadow to most everything.

  6. Made the peace sign metallic following Penguin Pete's metallic text tutorial (see the last tutorial here).

  7. Yes, I realize this is brief for instructions, but if you did the tie-dye tutorial already, the above instructions are the easiest part.

Feel free to offer your own opinion on which of the two themes you like best. I won't bite -  or sell your soul to Satan -  or collect your email and IP address to sell to spammers. Then again, maybe I will...[Admin note: this is my attempt at humor, I will in no way collect and sell email addresses to spammers. I DETEST spam/spammers! 1. That first one is an eye catcher, and for that I would pick the first... the "child-like" one.

  2. ummmmm, my vote goes to the top one with the flowers, although i do really love the colors of the blue and purple one, the first one, with the flowers, makes me "happy" from the inside out!

  3. gah! My worst fears confirmed! The "child" in me tends to be winning on this one, hahaha...

That's what I get for trying to be a mature artist, lol.

If you intend to comment to complain about being unable to perform certain steps with tutorials, please explain where you are in the step process and what step you are unable to get to work correctly, instead of saying something like, "I can't do this!". Your comments will help get tutorial corrections made and help give clarification to future viewers who may have trouble in the same locations. Thank you. :)
